And all of you, dress yourselves in humility as you relate to one another, for

⁶ So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. ⁷ Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.

⁸ Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. ⁹ Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your family of believers^[b] all over the world is going through the same kind of suffering you are. ~

1Peter 5:9-9

Verse 5 is such a great word for the body of Christ to live in. “Dress yourself in humility” He is speaking of walking in humility at all times. I have seen preachers take this little portion of scripture and build an entire doctrine around it based on how to dress lol…. he says “when relating to each other…”  in other words put yourself below others in the body, don’t allow pride to creep into relationships within the body of Christ. And I want to add this means the BODY of CHRIST not just your local church, or just your denomination. According to this scripture God opposes the proud. I don’t know about you but I do not want to live a life that God opposes!!! The humble shall inherit the earth….. God LIFTS UP the humble. WALK in HUMILITY and it glorifies God, it makes your life sweet and it makes the lives of EVERYONE around you sweet.

He goes on to say “STAY ALERT” in this life. The enemy is always trying to set traps for you. It’s his job, it’s his mission, it’s his vision, to steal, kill and destroy you and your family. By whatever means it takes. I have seen good men and women fall into such horrible traps that take down a marriage, a family, a church. I have been caught in traps by him….. WHY? Because we ALLOW IT to happen. By testing the waters, pushing the envelope, seeing how close we can get to sin and not fall in. It’s ALL part of the trap he is setting for you. THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO NOT GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS and you will find the answer in Hebrews 4:12…….

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable”. ~ Hebrews 4:12-13

NOW GO OUT AND HAVE AN EPIC DAY TODAY!!!

You won’t spend the rest of your lives chasing your own desires, but you will be anxious to do the will of God. ³ You have had enough in the past of the evil things that godless people enjoy—their immorality and lust, their feasting and drunkenness and wild parties, and their terrible worship of idols.

⁴ Of course, your former friends are surprised when you no longer plunge into the flood of wild and destructive things they do. So they slander you. ⁵ But remember that they will have to face God, who stands ready to judge everyone, both the living and the dead. ⁶ That is why the Good News was preached to those who are now dead^[b]—so although they were destined to die like all people,^[c] they now live forever with God in the Spirit. ~ 1Peter 4:2-6

Here the writer is speaking to the church about what it will be like when you become a Christian, how your friends will treat you, bully you, make fun on you. But he is speaking very plainly that the end will come and EVERYONE has to stand before God. What you do, what you say, how you act and react will be judged in the end. Just as it will for the unbeliever’s.

So do we change our ways so we won’t face the judgment? Do we change your habits so we can make it into heaven? NOOOOOOOOOOO We change because we fall in Love with Jesus, we change because the Holy Spirit is transforming us, renewing our minds, thoughts, ideas, values and morals. We change so we can be who God created us to be. And we change so we can be a LIGHT to the world, our spouses, our children, grand children, friends, co-workers, class mates etc.

If you are a believer, be ALL IN, know the Word, learn to worship, learn to pray and FALL IN LOVE… this is life changing and world changing. The only way to live.
